For both experiments, I used ink and stamps.

In the first experiment, I took inspiration from a mousemat at Mutts In Distress. It has the wording "When things are bad, remember I am alive because of you. Love, Toby x" And I found this very touching as I often have down moments when nothing seems to cheer me up except dogs. So, for this photograph I used that and changed it to say love Hades instead. In the photograph Hades is looking directly at the camera which creates a viewer-dog relationship, so when you read the 'you', the viewer will feel touched even if they had no part in his life. This physical image shows the relationship between the volunteers and the dogs. In effect, we as a team are saving these dogs lives, which creates a very intense bond that's difficult to break. So, in turn, this shows one of the best reasons the volunteers do what they do. We are saving lives. We get to see those on the brink of death nursed back to health and being energetic dogs, or nervous dogs turning into cuddle monsters. These changes happen in front of our eyes, and its a wonderful thing to see. We get to directly make a positive impact on these dogs, and that is why we pick up all the poo, scrub down doors, clean out kennels, do masses of washing, etc. We do this for the dogs, for the bond we share, for the love we have for them and they have for us. This is why we do what we do.
In this photograph, I took a quote that I think of a lot. It reads "A dog is the only thing on Earth that loves you more than he loves himself".
I agree with this. Dogs have so much love for humans, and it isn't commonplace for love like this for humans-human relationships. The photo shows Carol looking down at Hades and her gaze is filled with so much love, It looks as though he is a treasured family member. But he isn't part of mine and Carol's family (though I wish he was), yet she still shows him that much love and has that much love for him. It's a beautiful relationship, and a treasured one. Hades is a
perfect example of a dog that loves everyone and he is just wants to please
people. It is caring for affectionate wonderful dogs like him that makes
working at the rescue centre such a joy. This is the message I am trying to
convey in my physical image.
